BEML Limited, a leading
multi-technology company under the Ministry of Defence, Govt of India, has
signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dragflow S.R.L. Italy, to
collaborate on the design, development, testing, commissioning, supply, and
after-sales service of Amphibious Cutter Suction Dredgers. This strategic
alliance aims to deliver cost-effective, reliable, and locally manufactured
de-silting solutions for riverine and inland waterways, as well as other marine
dredging applications in India and global markets.
The MoU was formally signed
and exchanged between Cmde RGK Rao (Retd.), Head of SBU-Aerospace and Maritime
at BEML Ltd., and Mr. Nicola Masotti, General Manager of Dragflow S.R.L.,
Italy, in a ceremony held at BEML Soudha, Bengaluru, in the presence of Shri
Shantanu Roy, CMD of BEML Ltd and senior officials from both organizations.
This partnership marks a
significant step toward addressing the critical need for advanced dredging
solutions in India’s waterways, reservoirs, and urban flood management systems.
By manufacturing high-performance amphibian cutter suction dredgers, this initiative
will play a crucial role in restoring power generation efficiency, ensuring
safer navigation, and mitigating urban flooding risks. Additionally, this
initiative aligns with the Government of India's ‘Make in India’ and
‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ vision, reinforcing local manufacturing capabilities and
reducing dependency on imports.
