The Construction Chemicals Manufacturers' Association (CCMA) recently concluded a fantastic two-day event at The Lalit, Mumbai on 14th and 15th, March 2018. The event was designated the 3rd edition of International Conference of Suppliers to Construction Chemicals Industry of India (SCC). This industry event brought together the key technical and commercial stakeholders from the Construction Chemicals (CC) Industry and the Suppliers to the CC Industry, in a unique networking and technology sharing opportunity.
The conference focussed on latest technologies and presentations by experts from leading national and international suppliers. CCMA President Mr. Nilotpol Kar, started the deliberations by briefing the delegates on the development of the CC Industry and opportunities and challenges therein. Following this the Topic “Make in India - A Reality in Construction Chemicals” was discussed. This was followed by technical presentations on the latest materials and machinery available to the CC Industry. The highlight of the conference were the two panel discussions on “The Role of Construction Chemicals in Durable Infrastructure Development” and on “Value of Innovations in Construction Chemicals Industry in India Today”. The seminar concluded successfully with fruitful interactions between the Industry Stakeholders and their suppliers.
During this momentous gathering of peers, Mr. Samir Surlaker was conferred Honorary Membership of the Construction Chemicals Manufacturers' Association. This honour was conferred recognizing Mr. Surlaker's dedicated contributions to the industry over the past 40 years. Mr. Surlaker, on the inaugural panel of the conference along with CCMA's office bearers and keynote speaker, Mr. Sumeet Agarwal of Borreguard, addressed the delegates during the inaugural session. His peers and fellow Captains of the Industry presented Mr. Surlaker the award. Among those honouring Mr. Surlaker were, President of CCMA, Mr. Nilotpol Kar (BASF), the Vice President, Dr. B. L. Maheshwari (Aquaproof), General Secretary, Mr. Arijit Basu (Sika), Joint Secretary, Mr. D. P. Sengupta (STP), Members, Mr. A. J. Charles (Perma) and Mr. G. Manari (Cerachem). Mr. Surlaker said, “It was a privilege to be recognized and honoured by my peers and I re-dedicate myself to the cause of furthering the Construction Chemical Industry”.
Mr. Samir Surlaker, one of the frontiersmen and advocates of the construction chemical industry, retired as Managing Director of MC-Bauchemie (India) Pvt. Ltd. from 1st April 2016. He is currently undertaking Consultancy Assignments as Principal Consultant at Assess Buildchem Pvt. Ltd. He is also Director of Institute for International Talent Development (IITD), specializing in development and dissemination of specialized technical and soft-skills training relating to Civil Engineering.
Mr. Surlaker, a Civil and Structural Engineer from VJTI, has over 40 years of National and International experience in Concrete Technology and Construction Chemicals, in Europe, Middle East, Far East and India. Over the years, he has strived to improve awareness about the Industry by means of lectures and conducting trainings in Construction Chemicals, and associated fields.
He is well published in national and international publications and is co-author of “Handbook of Advanced Concrete Technology” and is a member of various BIS Committees. He has received numerous awards for contributions to concrete technology (by ICI), and for his contributions as a concrete and CC Engineer. Under his leadership, MC-Bauchemie (India) was the Awarded Best Construction Chemicals Manufacturing Company in 2015 by Builder's Association of India.
Mr. Surlaker contributed actively to the cause of Advancement of Construction Chemicals and Concrete Technology as Past Vice President (W) of Indian Concrete Institute (ICI), Past Director of India Chapter of American Concrete Institute (IC-ACI), Past Governing Council Member of Association of Consulting Civil Engineers, India (ACCE) and most importantly as the Past President of Construction Chemicals Manufacturers Association (CCMA).
CCMA is now over 60 members strong comprising of CC Manufacturers and suppliers collaborating jointly to promote cause of spreading awareness and to focus on right use of construction chemicals.
