ABB Secures Long-Term Service Deal With Adani Group’s Cement Business
ABB has entered into a multi-year service agreement with ACC, a cement company within the Adani Group. The objective is to enhance operational reliability and energy efficiency at the Jamul plant in Chhattisgarh. The primary focus of this initiative is to refurbish equipment, minimise downtime caused by maintenance, and extend the lifespan of existing assets.
In the first phase, completed in April 2026, ABB reconditioned 25 'ACS800 variable speed drives' on-site, without requiring a complete production shutdown. By retaining the existing cabinets instead of replacing the entire panels, the project helped prevent approximately 16 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
The next phase is scheduled between October and December 2026 and will involve an additional 25 drive modules. ACC has also adopted 'ABB Ability Digital Powertrain Insights', a digital monitoring solution that facilitates 'predictive maintenance' by identifying potential equipment issues before they lead to failures.
The agreement also encompasses regular maintenance and energy assessments. This will assist ACC in optimising equipment performance, controlling costs, and ensuring the long-term, reliable operation of the plant.
