In the present world, we all know how much we need to save energy, and energy resources have become necessary. And each state and city of our country is doing its best to take steps toward saving energy and promoting sustainable development. And one of the most important and efficient methods for the same is the use of solar energy, which has led many states and cities of the country to walk on the path rapidly of saving energy. Additionally, the expenses regarding the use of energy have also been quite high. Especially, the expenditure behind the use of electricity has made the entire country think of alternatives. Therefore, the PMC has been reported to use solar power so that they can cut off a part of their expenditure on the power supply for the civic facilities.
The Pune Municipal Corporation. PMC has decided to purchase a renewable source of power at a ₹ 3.40 per kilowatt-hour rate, thereby saving a sum of a minimum of ₹2.35 crore per month. The standing committee has approved the proposal of the administration on the Power Purchase Agreement, PPA, with the Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology Limited, MAHAPREIT, which the state government owns.
This initiative will not just cut down the expenditure on the power supply but also help the environment. It will reduce the emission of greenhouse gases, thereby levelling down air pollution. Therefore, this initiative will benefit not just the people but also the environment to a large extent.
