Gujarat has surpassed Tamil Nadu as the leading state in installed wind energy capacity in India. With an installed capacity of 10,415 MW, Gujarat has taken the top spot, while Tamil Nadu, which held the position for four decades, has a capacity of over 10,100 MW. Experts suggest that Tamil Nadu can regain its position through key policy interventions. India plans to add 58 GW of wind energy capacity in the next seven years, requiring an investment of over 4 lakh crore. The current cumulative installed capacity of onshore wind energy in India is 42.8 GW across nine states.
