How effective has EXCON been as a platform for helping Construction Equipment manufacturers meet the challenges facing them? How has the show helped the industry players identify new opportunities and make the best use of them?
EXCON is definitely the biggest exhibition of Construction Equipment in India and South Asia, witnessing the largest footfall of industry delegations and visitor participation. Excon is growing with each edition and this year the event is expected to have almost 70,000 visitors. It is the festival of the Earthmoving and Construction Equipment Industry and is unique as it has all stakeholders at the same place.
JCB has been participating as one of the largest exhibitors at Excon. At this platform, we connect with customers and showcase the entire range of our products and technologies.
It is a platform to exhibit products and services that have the potential to drive growth in the future. EXCON gives us an opportunity to reiterate our commitment to the Indian market. The exhibition also plays an instrumental role in bringing the entire industry together. It enables us to reach the customers and all other stakeholders together.
What is your expectation from EXCON'19?
EXCON is the biggest platform for players in the construction Equipment industry to showcase their products and services. Anything linked with construction and infrastructure development, be it in terms of products, services, technology, automation, finance, access to global markets etc., are displayed at the show.
In the EXCON 2019, we are hopeful of witnessing a greater participation from all the large OEMs, importers and international associations. It will help bring the troika of Industry, Academia and the Government under one roof to leverage these emerging trends. How do you look at the current market scenario?
Largely steered by the implementation of infrastructure projects, the year 2018 was a record year for the Earthmoving and Construction equipment industry. However, 2019 is seeing a demand compression due to a variety of reasons.
The recent times have witnessed an overall economic slowdown, which has been directly affecting the construction equipment sector. Further, 2019 being an election year, has contributed to the overall stress. The liquidity related challenges around NBFCs have also impacted the industry.
Despite the slowdown, there is still a thrust from the Government for creating infrastructure in India. With the implementation of large-scale projects, including projects of national importance, the road equipment industry is on a path to gain momentum. A significant financial outlay announced by the Government in the recent union budgets has been driving demand for road equipment and will continue to effectively boost demand in the construction equipment industry.
Roads & Highways will continue to be key growth driver for the Construction Equipment Industry and critical to fulfilling the $5 trillion economy dream of India. The rising focus of the Government towards rural economy will also be one of the major contributors in the foreseeable future, with rural roads development projects being in the forefront. Urban rejuvenation is another area that can significantly create demand if focused on as an opportunity by the Government. Apart from these Railways and Water Conservation have the potential to become significant growth drivers for the Construction Equipment Industry.
At JCB, we are fully prepared to leverage the opportunity with our world-class range of equipment.
